Lysanias -- dates unknown

Almost nothing is known of Lysanias except what is stated in the book of Luke. He was ruler over the tertrarch of Abilene, which was the northernmost tertrarchy. He ruled at the time of John's ministry and the baptism of Jesus -- about 26 AD.           Lysanias is mentioned only once in scripture: in Luke 3: 1.
